Chendol, or cendol, is a pandan-flavored jelly-like dessert served with ice and condiments, similar to ais kachang. There’s a popular vendor here in Penang on a street cart at Lebuh Keng Kwee just down the street from the laksa place.
They’re called Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul and Ice Kacang, and their cart is underneath a giant mural of a guy eating the frozen dessert. I had some today and it was as crowded as they usually are.
They’re served in little plastic cups and you can eat it right there, or take it with you (they give you a lid too if you want).
As far as frozen desserts go, it’s pretty good and a favorite of the locals.
